Dr. Murphy is a faculty member in the continuing education department of several chiropractic colleges, and trains other chiropractic physicians in various techniques of adjustment, physical medicine, nutrition, wellness and diagnosis. In addition to teaching, he has personally attended thousands of hours of continuing education to stay on top of his field. His specialties include treatment of: athletic sports injuries; disc bulges and herniations; pregnancy-related back pain and fertility; arm & leg neuropathies and all types of back and neck pains and dysfunctions
A Life Member of American Mensa, Dr. Murphy is a proven leader in the chiropractic profession internationally, nationally and locally here in New Jersey. A spokesperson for The American Heart Association as well as the American Chiropractic Association, he has held active roles at every level of the state’s chiropractic societies over the last 4 decades.
Originally appointed to the New Jersey Board of Chiropractic Examiners in 2000 by Governor Christine Whitman, he was re-appointed by Governors McGreevy and Corzine, and served under Governor Christie until 2011. (A Division of the Department of Law, Office of the Attorney General of NJ). While serving the citizens of NJ he held every office, including Board President.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Murphy serves as an Expert Witness for the profession. He is a much sought out expert in cases involving malpractice, personal injury and scope law violations.
A renowned public speaker, he has appeared on CTN, NJN and NBC Television as well a being a frequent guest on The Jessie Free’s show on WMTR/WDHA Radio
Also an accomplished writer, he publishes articles in several publications as well as his blogs for TAP, Patch, his own blog, and Elevated Existence Magazine.
A former food research scientist, Dr. Murphy has vast knowledge of whole foods, supplements and holistic nutrition. Besides helping his patients be their best, he frequently speaks about chiropractic, food and nutrition for civic groups, business and industry. Although he has maintained an office in Chatham for 40+ years, he has been a resident of Basking Ridge, New Jersey for over 40 years. He lives there with his wife Maria, dog Kahlua and 4 children, Joe, Ali, Sean & Mia. All of the children have attended Bernards Township Public Schools.
